Renee M. Marcelle has practiced law since 1983. Renee was admitted to practice law in Virginia in 1983 and California in 1988. Prior to starting her practice in family law and dissolution, Renee was a seasoned corporate lawyer and real-estate professional. This background enables her to synthesize her knowledge of corporate law, mortgage banking, finance, and real-estate development, into family law.
Experience in the practice of law is crucial to the success of a client’s case, but in addition to Renee’s outstanding family law experience, she also has strong negotiation sills, extensive financing abilities, and she possesses an understanding of business valuation models, all of which applies to various aspects of family law and dissolution.
Renee’s extensive skills allow her to be specifically effective in representing professionals, executives, business owners, and high income individuals whom often have special challenges during dissolution. Renee gives her clients the high level of expertise that they deserve from the legal profession.
Renee graduated cum laude from the University of Washington in 1979 and received her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1983. Renee has been an active licensed real estate broker since 1990. Prior to her family law focus, Renee was a strong corporate lawyer. She has expertise in commercial and residential building, banking, and finance.
Renee’s credentials demonstrate her high intellect, while her trial successes show her exceptional ability to stand up for her client’s rights in a court of law. Although settlement is generally the preferred choice, clients can rest assure that should litigation be necessary, Renee is an experienced attorney has the ability to evaluate trial strategy and bring the mater to effective conclusion.

Maritza B. Meskan
Attorney
Maritza B. Meskan was admitted to practice law in California in 1998 after graduating from Golden Gate University School of Law. During law school, Maritza worked as a law clerk, with the State of California Office of the Attorney General, Criminal Appellate Division researching and writing appeals and appearing for oral argument in the First and Sixth Appellate Districts.
Maritza has worked from 1999 to present as a panel attorney with the Sixth District Appellate Program representing indigent appellants in criminal cases. In 2000, Maritza accepted a Fellowship with the Criminal Justice Legal Foundation in Sacramento where she researched and wrote amicus curiae briefs for submission to the Ninth District Court of Appeal and to the United States Supreme Court.
Maritza has worked for the past several years as a family law solo practitioner based in San Francisco providing legal services in the following areas: dissolution matters, child custody and visitation, child support, domestic violence, restraining orders, pre nuptial agreements, spousal support, modification proceedings and assistance to clients during mediation with Family Court Services. Maritza has assisted clients in complex move away cases and represented both traditional and non traditional families. She has represented male and female domestic partners seeking to resolve custody and visitation issues and has successfully sought restraining orders for domestic violence survivors enduring personal and workplace harassment.
She is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco Volunteer Legal Services Program and a past member of the Legal Services For Children Guardianship and School Expulsion Panels. She has advocated successfully on behalf of the homeless. Maritza also serves as a fee arbitrator for the San Francisco Bar Association Fee Disputes Panel.
Maritza believes communication with clients is of paramount importance - whether they are just beginning or already involved in an ongoing family law matter. She understands that the process itself often adds to what is already a stressful life event and strives to ensure that her client's receive ample information and guidance through the family court system. Knowing that court proceedings can be costly, when possible, Maritza makes every effort to reach settlement on behalf of her clients. Where settlement is not possible, Maritza works closely with her clients as a strong, compassionate advocate.
Dawn Miller
Paralegal/Office Manager
Dawn has been a Legal Assistant and the Office Manager for the Law Offices of Renee M. Marcelle since July of 2004. She maintains a high level of client contact assisting in all aspects of preparing a case; beginning with the initial filing of documents through the date of trial, including discovery requests, expert review and analyzation of discovery responses and fact investigation, thereby saving the client money. Dawn has worked in the area of family law since 1993, upon her graduation from the Legal Secretary Program at Empire College of Law. Dawn is a Notary Public and is currently studying for her Real Estate Salesperson's License. Dawn is also a volunteer at Marin Services for Women. She grew up in Sebastopol, California, with her mother, father and brother. Dawn and her family reside in Rohnert Park. Dawn especially enjoys her job at the Law Offices of Renee Marcelle and hopes to continue providing a high level of service to the firm and it's clientele for many years to come.

Jessica M. Miller
Legal Secretary
Jessica has been a legal secretary with the Law offices of Renee Marcelle since September 2007. She has five years of experience in the areas of probate, worker's compensation and civil law. Jessica is currently in her third year of college and attending full-time classes at Dominican University of California. Jessica plays on the Dominican University womens' tennis team and also gives tennis lessons on the weekend. She is currently majoring in the field of psychology and plans to attend law school upon graduating in May 2009. Jessica grew up in Nevada City, California, with her mother, father, two sisters and brother. Jessica enjoys working at the law offices of Renee Marcelle and hopes to further her education and experience in the area of family law.
